Walk of life in Nunawading

24 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
NUNAWADING police have vowed to crack down on jaywalking and reward pedestrians who use roads safely.

There were seven traffic accidents in Whitehorse last December, including one resulting in the death of a Blackburn man who was hit by a bus on December 16.

Operation Safe Walker will be set up in response to these accidents, Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Gardner said.

‘‘People tend to try and back their own judgment, but safety measures are there for a reason,’’ Mr Gardner said.
