Vermont driver booked minutes after getting licence

25 Jan, 2012 01:45 PM
A 47-year-old Vermont South woman was caught speeding at 3.05pm yesterday, just 15 minutes after she received her first Victorian drivers licence.

Police caught the woman driving at 64 km/h in the 40 km/h zone of Hawthorn Road, Forest Hill.

She was fined and lost three demerit points.

Senior Constable Dean Pickering from Nunawading Highway Patrol said the woman had just received her Victorian drivers licence at VicRoads Burwood 15 minutes earlier and said she was unaware of the speed limit.

Mr Pickering said he hoped it would be the first and last ticket the woman received for quite some time.
