Schwerkolt cottage a slice of history

27 Sep, 2011 05:00 AM
SCHWERKOLT Cottage volunteers Rachael Cottle and Vicki Jones-Evans celebrated the launch of the cottage’s new educational facilities earlier this month.

August Schwerkolt, a German-born early settler of the Mitcham area, built the cottage in the 1800s using materials sourced from the banks of the nearby Mullum Mullum Creek.

The cottage’s new educational facility will teach visitors about Mitcham life back in the 1800s.
