Wild winds caused property damage and led to temporary road blocks across Manningham and Whitehorse on Sunday.
The Bureau of Meteorology reported winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Stuart Coombs said: ''Once you get from 90 kilometres per hour we get severe winds, likely to bring down sizeable branches from trees, and strong enough to lift a tin roof. Sometimes branches will fall onto power lines.''
SES Nunawading received 142 calls for assistance.
Manningham residents reported fallen trees caused minor damage to private property, an SES spokeswoman said.
SES Doncaster received only six calls for assistance. Residents reported fallen trees, roof tile and chimney damage in Warrandyte and Donvale.
Mr Coombs said residents could expect a cool front to move across the eastern suburbs tonight and tomorrow.
"But we won’t get winds anywhere near as strong as what we saw yesterday,’’ he said.
